Happy Mother’s Day

This being my first official Mother’s Day, it couldn’t have been better. On Saturday we spent the day with my family. We took my Mom (and Brothers and Sister) up the canyon to a little restaurant called Ruth’s Diner. Then on Sunday we enjoyed a BBQ over at Checketts. Dustin and I feel so lucky to be parents. We couldn’t imagine our lives without Libby and we also are so thankful for when she came into our lives. We strongly feel that the timing for us was perfect. Each day we are so thankful to the good Lord above for granting us this blessing, and two great families to enjoy the journey with, we are blessed.

A day at the ZOO

It was lovely spring day and we had cabin fever, so we figured what better way to spend an afternoon then at the ZOO, so that’s where we went. This was Libby’s second trip and this time seemed a little better than before. As she’s gets a little older she seems a little more into the whole experience, which is good since we bought season passes.This is going to be a fun spring/summer with our little munchkin.

Easter is such a great holiday. Not to discount the meaning of Easter which is obviously very important to us as Christians. I also love Easter because it’s the kick off to warmer weather, which excites me since summer is by far my favorite season. We enjoyed our usual Easter activities. We had the Barber family Easter egg hunt & brunch. We had another Easter egg hunt and brunch with our Ward and then we enjoyed Easter dinner with Dustin’s family. We truly enjoyed a nice weekend together with our families.

The time has just flown by. I can’t believe our little Libby is 9 months old! Words can’t adequately express the joy she has brought to Dustin and me. We are completely changed thanks to her and can’t wait to add to our family, no this is not an announcement… But we love Libby so much and are excited for the 4^th of July (her birthday)!

Disney on Ice

Dustin was given VIP tickets to Disney on Ice as a “thank-you” for the charity work he does for the Ken Garff foundation “Road to Success”. We enjoyed a pre-show meal with a special meet and greet with Woody and Buzz. We took along Grandma Vicky & Grandpa and Grandma Checketts for all the fun. I think Libby’s favorite part was trying cotton candy for the 1^st time, oops – bad mom.

Libby Meeting Santa

We took Libby to see Santa tonight. She was great, no fuss and no muss. We were in and out within 30 minutes which made Dustin a happy camper, so he treated us to dinner at Bandidos, our favorite little Mexican spot.

Giving Thanks on Turkey Day

I love Thanksgiving, it embodies everything that it is good in this world; family, giving thanks and food. Lately I’ve been very “un-Emily” like and not wanted to fuss with the mess. The last two years we’ve ditched the kitchen for eating out at Salt Lake’s, Little America Hotel, which has been great. I don’t think we’ll always do this, but for now it’s the tradition. We were joined again this year by Dustin’s family, which we loved having with us. After dinner we spent the night at Barberland hanging out and playing games. It was great day.

Libby’s initial costume didn’t work so we had to improvise by making her tutu her costume, which ended up being just fine. We went over to my Mom’s to say hi and my cousin’s stopped by with their kids so we snagged a few photos. Then finished the night over at our neighbors house for the annual Halloween “soup off”.

My little brother Tim works for Utah State University with the admissions department. Every year they do a traveling recruiting trip at the Davis Conference Center (which is in Layton where we live). We decided to meet up with him at the event and of course get our picture taken with ‘Big-Blue’.

Viva Las Vegas

Dustin decided he was a little burned out from work and wanted to get away for the weekend. So we packed up and headed to Vegas to see Brent, Sarah and the girls. It’s our favorite little get-a-way, we love spending time with them while basking in the Vegas sun.
